whoops....

You know those times when you just want to crawl into a hole and die? About an hour ago, I slammed Thayne's new birthday-present-waited-for-his-whole-life-couldn't-wait-to-use-costs-a-whole-LOT-of-money-got-it-last-week-and-couldn't-wait-to-fish-silver-creek-again-and-again Sage fishing pole in the car door.  BROKEN.  Just like my heart.  Something interesting happened.  I cried like a big, dumb, baby and Thayne didn't bat an eyelash.  He just hugged me and told me he loved me and that it would be alright and that we'll face tougher things....eternal perspective...mature stuff.  BAM.
Best. Husband. Ever. Again.

can't think of a title...

Thayner and I love a road trip.  Thayner and I especially love a road trip to Sun Valley.  I knew I loved Thayne after being locked with him in a car for four-and-a-half hours on our way to Sun Valley.  We honeymooned here.  It’s a magical place.  The car is a magical place where hilarious road-trip things happen, too.  Today I learned something new about my hubs.  He hates all of my music, but somehow mysteriously knows every single word to every single song by heart.  Today for an hour, we sang wrong words on purpose at the top of our lungs.   Also, if the song is a duet with a man and a woman, Thayne WILL sing the woman’s part 100% of the time…even though a man is singing….at the same time.  That’s all there is to say about that.

Other great things that have happened in the car on road trips together: Our first disagreement where Katie my sister moderated.  Flat tire.  Got terribly lost somewhere in the middle of Utah, but found a great shake place.  Counted run-over pot-guts to keep Soph from going insane.  Rejected the Justin Bieber movie three minutes in…but somehow managed to get through “Lady Hawk” in its entirety.  Thayner got sick going down Logan Canyon then got bled on by an injured man at a gas station.

First stop, Silver Creek.  I have a feeling generations of our family will stop here to fish on their way to beautiful Sun Valley.

On to the Kneadery for breakfast...mmmmmm.....drool.  I took a big bite into my blueberry pancakes to find out they had a crusty slash completely charred underbelly.  I didn't want to be "that person" who sends back food, but blueberries aren't supposed to be made of pure carbon, so I kindly asked the waiter to switch them for some unburned pancakes and got them in 5 minutes (I just hope the chef-guy didn't spit in the batter!).
Our morning adventure took us through the Sawtooths up to the Salmon river and, of course, Thayne fished.

We swung by Redfish Lake and kicked ourselves for never having gone earlier!  Look at the beauty!! (The mountain and lake are looking pretty good too).

There are some massive wildfires up here in Idaho.  They turn the sun red and keep us from breathing real good.  Anywho, great start to a great trip.  Lame end to a semi-lame blog post.  :)

finding nemo....

if Nemo were a big, nasty, flat halibut slash cod.  Those things give me the creeps!  Luckily, I married the manliest fish-hunter in all the land who can turn these babies...
into a delicious and healthy home-cooked meal. Mmmmmmmm......
So, thank YOU handsome husband for braving the Arctic waters to provide our protein and Omega-3s.

good ole' times

As the summer is coming to a close, Thayner and I have been spending some quality time with the fams (ps: we both have big families that are hilarious, wonderful, and good times)
ummmm, yes.  We are grateful to have gone to see this little beauty with the Bourne's and I am especially grateful that Thayne appreciates a good musical. I think that's the sign of a marriageable man.
I know what you are thinking.  We look like the cover of a Jehovah's Witness magazine.  We basically felt like it (except a Mormonized version) on this beautiful picnic with the Davis' up near Devil's Castle at Albion Basin.
Hallelujah!  (Still on that JW kick).  There is nothing I love more that to be with Thayne, outside, joined by my dad and Katie (my crippled sister who just had knee surgery) hobbling around Red Ledges.  Thanks for a beautiful evening!

Anywho, we are just having some good ole' times this summer (interspersed by work, midterms, dishes, and cleaning the toilet) and look forward to a lifetime more!  Love to both of our incredible families who make our lives so rich and lovely!

hamster salon

Anyone here ever blow-dry a hamster?  While studying at my parent's house, I watched as Sophie ran into the room holding a tiny, wet, dying hamster in her hands.  Seems like the hamster, Angel, decided to take a dip in the dog's water bowl.  She was quite traumatized, but I promised her she would be okay.  Angel was shaking and not opening her eyes or moving around, and I thought she'd be a real angel soon if we didn't get her warmed up.
Enter the blow-dryer.  It was a miracle that brought our little rodent friend back to it's pitiful life.  After the patient was stabilized and rested, we went on a weird adventure...
Soph and Maddy needed prom dresses for a back to school party with all the little girls.  I'll never understand twelve-year-olds and I don't remember what it was like to be one, but we had the most hilarious time trying on prom dresses at the DI.  Sophie has absolutely no shame if you can't already tell.  I love her :)
Soph's favorite part was prancing through the isles with each new find and posing...waiting for compliments.  Madds and I weren't as brave, so we just sat in the dressing room and laughed.
To add to the weirdest weekend I've ever experienced, I saw this guy competing for an individual medal in men's gymnastics.  I immediately judged him for his creepy mustache and VW-van-driving-esque appearance, but then the beautiful Chilean flag popped up behind his name and I fell instantly in love with him. CHI-CHI-CHI-LE-LE-LE VAMOS CHILE!!!

Thayne made the August cover!!

So Thayner won't tell anyone this, but Men's Health magazine FINALLY recognized his super-hotness and decided to put him on their August 2012 cover.  Actually, it's Liam Hemsworth, and for the record, Thayne is MUCH more attractive than him (actually, according to this picture, they are identical twins and the magazine cover is starting to creep me out a little).

Exhibit B.  This is what I get for being a member of the ever-hilarious Davis family.  Taylor sent this beauty out with the caption "Wow.  Thayne and Liam have almost the exact same taste in women too.  Crazy" I think this is all I need to say about this hilarious experience, the picture speaks for itself.  I could only hope to be compared to Miley Cyrus someday (barf).
